Please consider delaying the marriage. We just had a newcomer in my alanon homegroup, she told the group about the drunken spectacle of a ceremony which included the groom verbally abusing his mother who was trying to calm him down. Now a couple weeks later they are living in different cities and she doesn't wan't him around if he's still drinking- and the ink is barely dry on the paperwork.

Marriage & kids will not smarted up an acoholic and teach him/her the error of their ways, it only ties you to them. It could be that putting it on hold or cancelling it altogether will be the wakeup call- or be enough to prompt them to show their true colors.
