Friday night approaching. I'm bored.....
This is day 4 and it's Friday. I know my drill. I am already thinking that maybe I can have one, maybe max two drinks. What's the harm? Otherwise what am I going to do? Sit on the couch listening to my kid's show? Watching something I don't want to watch on TV? For the first two nights my daughter asked me if I had been drinking. I told her "no". She didn't ask last night. If she asks tonight I hope I can honestly say "no" again. I really don't want to disappoint her but it is very hard. I don't know how I even fell so far down this dark, destructive, hole.

Maybe start a new Friday evening tradition or routine with your daughter...a Girl's Night of some sort...that way you'll be sober and bonding with her. Wishing you well on the rest of your recovery journey x
What we usually identify as "boredom" four days into sobriety is more likely low level anxiety caused by withdrawals and discontentment with sobriety. Drinking isn't really an activity, so what is it relieving except the cravings of your addiction.
If you want to make day 5 you'll suffer through it or find something to do to take your mind off of it.

Keep at it!!!
These feelings will pass. I agree to do something with your daughter.
If you have some cash check the movies, go to a fair or outdoor activity, go get pampered, go to a play, sports game...
Or if you have to stay in: do each other's nails or a facial. Play a board game or family game (charades is fun and I like pictionart too), go for a walk, do a drawing together...
You get the point. Push through the uncomfortable feelings by distracting yourself. Keep your eye on the price and play the tape, read and post here.
You can do this!!! Remember how you want to be. You can make it happen.

I know it's late now and hopefully you are still sober.
I don't know how old your daughter is but maybe for Saturday you could take her to The Secret Life of Pets movie.

Thank you to everyone for you advice and support. I made it through Friday night without touching a drop. I even got out of bed this morning long before the rest of the family and sat on the porch drinking coffee watching the world come to life. There are some great sounds out there before the hustle and bustle of traffic and humans talking!

So glad you made it through Friday night. Now you can flex that sobriety emotional muscle. It just got a little stronger and next Friday night will be a little easier. Friday nights were my definite witching hour and they were extremely tough in early sobriety. Try to make plans for next Friday night that don't give you any access to alcohol. It makes it so much easier. Before long Friday nights will be a mere blip on your road to recovery. Congrats. You are doing great and we at SR are rooting for you.
