You can be proud and have a blast

You can hold your head up high, knowing that you're the kind of person who is there for others, who can be there when the chips are down and the times are tough.

You can be strong and fit and healthy.

You can be a model of values and of positive.

You can be counted on and respected.

You can be trusted and admired.

You can be the type of person other's look to for strength and guidance.

You can be the type of person who sticks up for those in need (including yourself).

You can be present and insightful and loving.

You can be faithful and honest.

You can be the sort of person that your children want to be.

You can be there for your children - no matter what the time or the issue.

You can be there for your husband, your wife, your sister, your brother, your parents, your friends.... reliably and with heart.

And you can have a BLAST!!

You can find the beauty in even the simple moments.

You can laugh with sincerity - even at yourself.

You can truly enjoy life - just as it is.

You can create joy - for yourself and for others.

You can let things go.

You can be freewheeling and lighthearted.

You can lie back and relax.

You can be a kid again - and be a friend to the kid inside.

You can smile and look people in the eye and marvel at the sky and find peace in a simple walk and joy in the wind blowing through the trees because you can see how blessed you are to be walking and talking and breathing and experiencing the ride on this pale blue dot reflected in a sunbeam floating through the vastness of space like an incredible miracle.

You can.

Now.... don't you think all of that is a lot brighter prospect than emerging from another blackout?

Isn't all of that far more of a promise than a few hours of alleged "fun" at a bar?

Doesn't it seem like alcohol pales in comparison?????

Does it ever.

This is wonderful, FreeOwl - thank you so much.

No more 'fear of missing out' for us.

letting go of the fear of missing out by building a picture of the 'desire of what I'll gain' made all the difference for me....

Perfect and well written.

Love the words as always FO and this is oh so true for me, it's most definitely what I have struggled with the most but you put everything into context and you know what yes it is such a great place to be in life.

I sat reading through each line thinking you know what yes I can - this really is me and exactly what I want - this was never me but sobriety is making all of this possible and it's happening.

I'm going to do the same Delilah.
