Thanks Ruby - great to see ya, BTW!

Yeah, I think this neighbor is just kind of 'lost' here, I'm sure he's still feeling his way around and is looking for some comfort. My Costa Rican neighbors have now moved away (yay!) to Mexico, and he used to have a space at their drinking table. That said, coffee is a great idea. We all live in a 'gated community' so we see each other often. I have been working on my garden patio - just got a hibiscus - and once things settle down I will knock on his door. For the meantime, I'm minding my own business.

Good advice, Ruby. All part of the action plan. Also, I'll be a solo parent, since my wife will be on-call that weekend. So, I'm the driver by default.

daily routine changed here... since wife is back to work, I'm back to apron duty... lunch made and packed - she is 100% focused on school work, then off to afternoon shift and repeat for a couple weeks...
picked some blueberries... first two plants are just about finished, second two are loaded, third two need to find a new place to live I think... too much shade

guess I'll go outside and dump 3 cents a gallon water around... and I got kale!

BigS that's good that your problematic neighbors have relocated. It's hard being the partner moving into a strange environment so I have empathy for your new neighbor. A long time ago I moved to Minnesota to be with my ex husband. Straight out of college. No job. No friends. It was hard. And Minnesota isn't totally foreign territory,

Wow, that's a large Hibiscus. Can't get the trees to grow (dependably) this far north, so we're stuck with the annual variety.

Quick check in!
All good.
Best friend here from LA for the summer.
Instead of drinking we've been going out for long walks every evening when it's cool- about 2-3 hours of waling and gossiping haha
Way more fun!

I also have a strange bit of information.
I actually LOST weight on that deep south trip- weird!

Welcome to Weekenders Thomas 59 and betha

Thomas if your surface book uses Microsoft make sure that sleep mode works properly

Thank you for the intro Mecanix

Glad you are feeling OK Ken

As anyone who tunes in to Wimbledon can attest we are still enduring lousy summer weather - incidently, on that subject i just heard that last year's beaten finalist and no 2 seed Garbine Muguruza is out

So I am off today and then will be working through the weekend. I am housekeeping manager at a 40-room hotel.

My best advice for making it through the holiday weekend sober also involves HALT (the four deadly triggers, Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired). Specifically, as others have mentioned, watch out for being hungry. The most common time to be hungry is right before a meal--cocktail hour! So be sure to have snacks handy to curb any cravings.

LOL folks...

OK locked and loaded for grilled sweet corn and black bean salsa. Will grill the corn on my handy dandy indoor grill. What could go wrong?

BTW... this grill is amazing. Made pork, beef, chicken, hamburgers and hot dogs. I LOVE it!

Now... put on a chopped episode and BAM!
