its been 3 months since my last confession

I posted for the first time here in march. Three months of abuse later I'm back making a promise to myself to be clean for my 40th Birthday in August.

I need friends here to make it to 40 clean and dry (eight weeks)
one day at a time.
Day1

that's a great goal.... and one you can easily attain.

welcome, and congratulations on a clear vision for a clearer life.

stick around and keep up the sharing.... grab onto sobriety and you'll enter the 4th decade with a renewed vigor and a LOT going for you.

Welcome back Vman

Friends are cool, but what I think is vital is a recovery plan.

If you don't have one this is a good place to start?

Welcome back! Perhaps you could post more often as to how you're doing. Take advantage of the support and wisdom here to help your recovery. I come here every day and it never fails to strengthen me.

DAY 2 OK

Eventhough the hamster or rat brain is still pressing that hit lever I've been so far down to rockbottom to know that rockbottom doesnt exist.

There are no limits for an addict.
Misery ends at death.

Hard words but at nearly 40...

I am also turning 40 in August. I pretty much lost my entire 30's to my alcoholism so I am determined not to start off my 40's as a drunk. I'm 41 days sober so I'll have about 3 months when my bday comes. Let's do this!

I'm turning 41 next week, but I'm right there with you. The latter half of my 30's was largely a blur. Keep it up, and make this the first of many more sober decades!

I tried several different groups including AA. Just never really seemed to do it for me. Maybe just havent found the right group. I have a weekly meeting set up with my councillor now for the next few weeks...
As time goes on maybe i'll find a type of sponsor or sober friend to share with. Who knows maybe I might eventually find someone in Toulouse on SR. In any case night night !

Good to hear you're making progress. What support are you getting? Obviously, we can support you a bit using the forum but face to face would be better.

I will be 40 in August, too- the 3rd so just one month to go! Soon after will be my 6 mo mark. Can't wait.

I, too, am determined to be healthy and my best ever in the next decade.

Happy and strong, hardworking going for all of us - VMan, User, WL!

And....a specialist? Just curious about this. People describe their recovery plans all over but just this I don't know if I have heard. Hopefully this person will talk to you about a concrete plan, whether it is AA or not. Since you mention you've gone down the road before and from your first post- best to you for this time being the last!!
