I don't like myself right now

I'm unmotivated, underachieving, and doing the bare minimum. I do not have a positive outlook as of recently, but for no particular reason. It's a good old fashioned funk. Can't let it linger for long, I have to keep moving forward, keep driving, keep achieving and keep pushing.

For anyone new, I've been sober for quite awhile now, so it just goes to show you that being sober is not a magic happy pill, life still can throw some curve balls.

I have days that feel like that, too....

Heck, some days I feel like that two or three times a day - but feel great in between.

What you're describing in some ways is just part of the human condition.

Sometimes on days like that, I just pick one or two things, focus on those and get them done. Focus on ONE action to care for myself; a meditation, a gym session, a walk - and force myself to do that. Just power through, one step at a time.

hang in there.

Gotta agree with FO. Life is.......well, life. And we're humans which means we're emotional beings. Funks happen, even without any known reason. As does times of joy.

Like FO, I've found the best way to get back on track is to do something positive and start gaining momentum in that direction.

I firmly believe that a major piece of the acceptance of our addiction is that we must also learn to accept that life has ups and downs. Even the most well adjusted person in the world has bad days, they simply just ARE. The difference is how we react. You've of course have a year of not turning to alcohol under your belt in these types of situations which is great, the next step is finding healthy ways to deal with the "bad" days and even accept them for what they are and move on.

The upside is that being disappointed in myself for basically being unproductive is better than being disappointed because I got drunk, drove drunk, got in verbal argument with my unstable mother, pissed off my wife and then passed out after eating a whole pizza. So there's that.

Yeah me too man. Isn't it great.
Better to be a human "being" than a human doing anywayz.
No pressures, that's "the man" talkin'.

"People say I'm lazy dreaming my life away,
Well they give me all kinds of advice designed to enlighten me,
When I tell that I'm doing Fine watching shadows on the wall,
Don't you miss the big time boy you're no longer on the ball?

I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round,
I really love to watch them roll,
No longer riding on the merry-go-round,
I just had to let it go,"

Thomas11, I'm right there with you. It's not a magic carpet ride but at least I'm not making things worse. When I'm in a funk I make lists and try to do at least one thing a day. Might not be much but at least I accomplished something. I wished I was more energetic at times. I know it will pass in a day or week or two.

Check your diet gang.

I was going crazy w the coffee and sweets last weekend.

Great way to feel like crap for a few days.

Just because a quit drinking, does not mean i am indestructible.

Sort of ruined this week so far.

Powering through by trying to eat right.
