Way to go on the 4 weeks.

I am sure that going to AA will benefit you greatly.

Also stay close to the forum and participate as much as you can.

Welcome to SR jojay and congrats on your 4 weeks of sobriety! Anxiety and depression are common in sobriety for some, and for many they are separate and distinct issues that need treatment. I think AA will definitely help you begin do deal with both of them, but don't rule out speaking with a therapist or counselor - they are both very treatable conditions, with and without meds.

It sounds like you're doing well. For many people the anxiety and depression will ease up as you continue your recovery. If you were depressed before you began drinking, then you might consider talking to your dr about the issue. I hope you continue to read and post.

I am just about 4 weeks sober and also dealing with depression and anxiety. I am certain that it's related to years of alcohol abuse. I go to AA everyday which not only keeps me sober but also gives me hope. listening to other alcoholics tell their stories has been beneficial for me
