Today...

Hello.

I am currently on day 4 and I want to drink.

It would not make any sense though .. I start a new job Tuesday and I'm almost through the detox process and am sleeping okay.. this job will require me to get up early so it would make much more sense to be on Day 6 on Tuesday and not Day 1...

My girlfriend is sick of me drinking so I have been drinking when she's gone ... and the addictive voice in my head thinks that if I am not drinking when she is gone I am wasting my "drinking time".

Right now I'm thinking "Oh, I am legally allowed to buy beer as of 8 minutes ago" why I am wasting time still sitting here.

On Sunday you can't buy beer here until 9 am ...

Volshen - don't drink.... Stay sober. Go for a walk this morning and imagine how good you will feel Tuesday and beyond.

Especially think about the confidence you will have by taking control of your life!

If you are an alcoholic then drinking is a really bad idea. But its your choice...sounds to me like you know the answer.

SoberLife90 06-12-2016 06:24 AM

Don't do it!!!

Soberwolf 06-12-2016 06:32 AM

Its normal to have cravings & urges in early sobriety but doing what your doing reaching out staying accountable and getting through it is what it's all about

Early sobriety is full of emotional twist & turns but remembering why we do what we do is pivotal

Thank you everyone.

I woke up this morning 100% sure I was going to drink .. but coming on here, writing my post and reading the responses has brought back some sanity.

Not going to drink today, I will post updates throughout the day.. going to try to get a lot done to keep busy.

Thank you again!

Stay close if you need help Volshen. You did a very good job of listing many reasons why drinking would be a bad choice. There are no good reasons. Good job on coming here first to talk it through.

Yep... Stay close and make it a productive day!

I just did an hour of yard work... It's super Sunny and hot outside 85 degrees already at 10:45am.

Nice big glass of ice water and SR for me!

Keep in mind Volshen, most of the rest of the world doesn't drink or get drunk at 9am. Many don't drink at all. I hope you don't either. Stay strong man.

I can't tell you how many times, even in the last three weeks of being sober, I have had times, even whole workdays, where I was 100% sure I was going to drink, and actually planned out going to the store and all. I remind myself of that whenever I feel like I "need" to drink, because it helps my perspective to remember that 100% sure has no power... I can still say no.

I am so happy you posted here instead of going to the store or trying to handle this on your own. Post, post, post, every minute if you must!!

Day 4 is fantastic, but don't throw all that great progress over a mere liquid in a bottle.

You can do this, keep pushing through!! :)

have a bowl of ice cream. drink a cold fizzy soda. breathe! if you need to, do it 5 minutes at a time. if you ride this out, you will be stronger next time it threatens.
