Four days sober

24 years old and I'm just tired of being angry. Woke up this morning didn't sleep well at all and have a pounding headache. When will things get better?

Appreciate the replies. Never have been a heavy drinker until the last two years. All of my core group of friends have moved away with great jobs and I'm still here in a funk. Just ready for more. And any advice on the headaches? It's driving me a little crazy.

That's awesome you're doing it now. At 42 I started a bit too late, but every day counts! Keep us posted.

Stay hydrated with plenty of water and Gatorade, and eat whatever you can stomach. Sleep when you can get it.

Congrats on Day 4, when the going gets tough and I would start to get impatient with the progress of my recovery I would remind myself that it took me a long time to get to the worst of my addiction so why should I expect my body to bounce back the second I decide to stop?

Eating well, taking vitamins, exercising, yoga, meditation, creating a "bed time routine", and just being patient is what helped me get over the hump.

Hang in there, everyday things will slowly get better and better.

I'm on day 5 and today the headaches have gone. I've been drinking lots of tea and water and am taking a liver detox supplement. My sleep has been pretty bad- fingers crossed tonight is better.

Well done on 4 days- it will get better.

It will get better the longer you stay sober. You didn't do the damage overnight and it will take longer than a few days to get back to normal. Stay sober, it gets better.

I had headaches for about 5 days. They lasted all day with no relief from ibuprofin. As soon as I lifted my head from the pillow, they started. Mine went mostly away around Day 5.

Editing to add: I just remembered I was taking Milk Thistle at the time. I checked out some of the side effects and headache was one of the possible ones. I discontinued it.

You could try some Tylenol. The pain will pass. Hang in there.
