Uncomfortable and Uplifting at the Same Time

I ran into a woman today. She used to be a clerk at the local corner store. She recognised me, tried to place me. Then she said,"Oh! You used buy your beer from me!" (That was before I graduated from beer to wine and then from wine to vodka) A gut reaction happened to be called out like that. "I don't do that anymore", I replied. That's all that was said about that. She then gushed over and over how great I look now (lost 60 pounds since I saw her last).
It was a bizzare encounter in how it made me feel. But I walked away smiling.

Nothing at all to be uncomfortable about. Lots in fact to be proud of, including your very apt response.

Funny how some people want to keep it a big secret, based on the idea that no one knows about our problem. People do notice. Good to see they are noticing your positive example. They might also wonder how you did it.
