Day 1

I have been reading here so many positive responses and support. I have to say the pages that spoke about withdrawal symptoms were scary. Any suggestions?

Welcome. Congrats on your first day. They can be scary. Don't be afraid to go to the ER if you feel you have to. They deal with it in a daily basis. Wishing you well.

Hi corkit - welcome

yeah like others have said seeing a Dr is your best bet - especially if you're worried or concerned at all

better to be safe than sorry.

Welcome corkit. As the others have said, detox varies greatly. No shame in seeking medical help. Do you have anyone with you?

Welcome Corkit. SR is a valuable tool in an alcoholic's recovery. For many, myself included, it is a lifeline. Please read a post often.. Lots of support and wisdom from many years of sobriety. Hang in there.

Alcohol withdrawal can be dangerous. Best to get your doctor's help to detox safely.

Hi Cork, I would definitely discuss your intentions of stopping with a Dr. Tell the doctor about your drinking history honestly. Your Dr. can prescribe some meds to help you with withdrawal symptoms. Like others have stated....detox from alcohol can get dangerous and is extremely tough on your overall well being. Remember a Dr.is there to help you....not pass judgment on you. Your sober journey can't start until do get over the initial detox. Best wishes

Not only the safest way to go but you will also feel better about the whole process with a doctor's guidance.

Good luck,
Bob
