After many attempts, I concluded that moderation doesn't work. So what's your plan to get, and stay sober?

4 months is a long time for an addict to be sober. Great job.

Curious about how the moderation escalated and to what level you drank before day 1 again.

How are the hangovers?

I am not thinking about stating, just learning.

Thanks.

moderation

I drink about a bottle of wine a night. I think my problem is I don't have a plan believe it or not what I did for the four months was block any thoughts of drinking out of my mind. I some how was able to redirect my thoughts and just block any idea of drinking. I guess I just have not had the strenghth this time around . Been drinking for 30 plus years

In order to succeed, you must want to be sober more than you want to drink. Not easy, but simple.

I've been there with the "moderation" thing failing. I know some people can do it but I would suspect most of us are here because we can't. Being totally sober is the way to go.

I'm glad you're back. Ok, you relapsed. Start again.

I found that once I admitted I was alcoholic and had to quit, my drinking was never 'the same'. I couldn't drink without guilt and shame, it wasn't 'fun', the quantity increased, I began hiding it, and it morphed over time into a bender style drinking that is frankly catastrophic.

Not only can alcoholics not moderate their intake, but once alcoholism has been owned up to (even if we are still somewhat in denial and haven't fully accepted our situation) drinking is never 'fun' again.

What I did after a few of those was
add one day and now shoot for 4 months and one day.
