How many times
Well I am. Back again. I stayed dry for almost a year. That was 4 years ago. I've spent the last 4 years in an alcoholic haze. I've done so much but missed out so much. I want to try again but feel so discouraged.
4 years in a haze of booze is devastating.
The really encouraging thing is you made it HERE and you're ready to change.... right? That's AWESOME!!!
SO here's what let's do; let's IMMEDIATELY throw out that "I want to try again "nonsense and replace it with "I've come to the conclusion after 4 years of an alcoholic haze that booze really just DOESN'T WORK for my life".
Let's throw out that "I feel so discouraged" storyline and sub in "I'M SO EXCITED TO BE FREE AND TO LIVE!!!"
Because that's a much better and more accurate form of the vision I suspect you'd like to create.
OK?
We'll go from there. Welcome back. This is gonna be awesome.
Welcome back Priceyjunk. Forget about how many times you've tried before, today is a new day 1. You never have to have another day 1 after today. You've done it before, so you know it absolutely can be done. You've just got to get over the initial hump and break the cycle you are in.
You can get back to where you were during that year you had sober. Use all of the positive memories of how good you felt when you weren't drinking to motivate you to not drink today.
Welcome back, you can do this.

Welcome back! I know it seems daunting when we first get sober and start working on recovery but NEVER give up on yourself. YOU CAN DO THIS.
Sometimes we have to have certain experiences in order to become the person we were meant to be. Maybe now would be a good time to get some sober people to stay near, get involved in AA, any type of recovery meetings, your church, or even an animal shelter. Just get out of the house and get out of your own head in a safe environment where you won't have to worry about everyone drinking.

You certainly have some fight in you, four years is a long time. I always get a bit nervous with the word try. Its great to keep trying but when you resolve is I'm going to "try" again, it sounds like you are giving yourself wiggle room.
Welcome back. You CAN do this! You've come to the right place for support. I know it's hard to get to meetings, and I've just started to go back myself, but I do find it easier to get thru the day once I hit a meeting.
Glad you are here. 😊
