Wow, I've never been to Maine, but you make me want to! And you make us all feel we have a friend there!

Love the cheery flowers. ☺ All this talk of warm weather and the beach is making me jealous, though.! It's been quite chilly in my corner of the world today.

Thanks everyone for coming along with me. It means a lot to know I have this to attend to. No time for messing around with drinking thoughts.

And Bix... You do have a friend here.

Low key cool day here. Not sure where the wind will take me. Not far from home today. We shall see.

Mom

It was a May not unlike this May. The lilacs were in bloom and there was a sweetness in the air. When I left your hospice room we said goodbye. "I will see you soon." Us both knowing that our goodbye was also our last.

Before I left I fed you breakfast. We held hands. We sat in silence and smiled. I thanked you for being a wonderful loving mother. Then I left with that good bye. I stood firm outside your door. Unable to move away from you. But I did. I had to. We all have to.

May 29th 2003. Rest easy mom. Thanks for being a wonderful loving mother.

Ken

Your pics are great K! I like what I do for a living but I LOVE vacations!

Speaking of which were are settled into our villa here on St. John. Even with heavy clouds last night's sunset view from our patio was awesome....

She must've been a great mom to have such a terrific son.

Have a lovely time on St. John, Mark.

Thanks everyone for the kind support. Yesterday hit me particularly hard. I don't know why all of a sudden that happened. This would have been a blow out drinking day had that been an option.

MARK! So happy for you. I loved St John when I was there. Try to hit the BVI Baths. Amazing.

Please feel free to post your vacation pics here if you choose.

Yesterday was a cold dank day. 30 degree difference from the day before so I stayed in. To be honest I had a few tears. Slept a lot. And was in bed super early. That's my usual tactic to handle stress these days. Can't drink while sleeping so it tends to work.

Today will be low key. Plan on the big things Tuesday and Wednesday this week. White Moutain national forest. Yeah. Cannot wit. The pics should be amazing. But that's an easy target to shoot.

I think I have developed a passion for photography over the last year or so. Every pic here is from my phone. I don't touch anything up. I don't crop anything. I get lucky enough to have the scenery that taking a bad pic is more difficult.

Happy sober Memorial Day everyone. Let me catch up on the weekender. See you later after I find something to do today.

Take it easy Weasel and have a great memorial day. Can't wait for the pics from the white mountains. That should bring back some memories for me. Did a lot of back packing there in the days.

I look forward to the pics too, Ken. MrH worked at a hotel in the White Mtns. many years ago - he loved it there.

Maine looks amazing. I've traveled throughout the U.S. and abroad (though less frequently abroad), yet I've never been to Maine. It has been on my bucket list for remaining travel spots I must hit in the States. Everybody says it is beautiful, and your pictures prove that.

Where are you at in Maine (sorry if posted earlier, I haven't read through the entire thread)? I'd love an itinerary if we go someday.

Hi Babescake. Welcome to SR.

I am in southern Maine. The coast is dramatic. The weather fair and amazing in summer. The north is unique in it's vast tree line. But you can go miles without a change in view. Many have "camps" there. Ponds and lakes.

Beach day tomorrow!!! Gonna get golden.

Tired. Been a long day here.
