Day nine and I can see myself going either way.
I believe you can absolutely choose the outcome you want most.
It's OK to give a little bias to that side

I use a mix of both. I know I can never drink again, but I only focus on today. There are a million reasons I could drink today, but I choose not to. It takes a bit of trust things will get better.
For instance, tonight something happened that really angered me and I had the immediate reaction of wanting a drink. Fortunately, better heads prevailed and I took a walk instead. That calmed me down somewhat. Did it completely solve the problem? No, the problem is beyond my control. But I didn't drink.

Quoted from Dan Millman's book 'Way of the peaceful warrior'.
"The Secret of Change Is to Focus All of Your Energy, Not on Fighting the Old, But on Building the New"....
...and that pretty much sums up for me how I got sober.
In the early weeks and months, I tried, watched, attended and explored everything to do with sobriety....
Now I use SR and AVRT if I get triggered...
Congratulations, and don't pick up that first drink no matter what!
