Good news
Good news
Well, I am happy to say I have some really good news to deliver to everyone on here. For those of you following my story, I got myself into trouble with drinking and driving back in February. Since getting myself into the mess I was in, I have committed to making positive changes in my life. I am approaching 100 days of sobriety from alcohol, and things are getting a little better each and every day.
I had court yesterday, and I am glad to say that the situation has been dealt with and I am moving forward. The district attorney in the court room that day agreed to drop the DUI refusal enhancement I was facing. She agreed to do so along with the judge since I requested and have already began participating in the 3-month alcohol school my state requires you to take before the conviction took place. She also took into consideration my participation in AA, my work with helping a sober-living home and their positive letter to the court, and my willingness to plead guilty to the DUI. I was ordered 5 days in jail which they converted to work-release for me, which I will be going to twice a week starting next week to get taken care of.
I am no longer facing a 1 year license suspension. I am eligible for an unrestricted license on August 3, so I have just a little over two months left with my current suspension. I can get a restricted one for work purposes if I happen to find a job beforehand.
My public defender advised me this is the first case she was ever able to get the refusal enhancement dropped. "God was certainly on your side Frank, and you took a lot of steps that really impressed the DA and judge".
So for now, I am focused on getting my last 10 weeks of alcohol classes completed, taking care of my 5 days of work release/community service, and finding a job. I am so grateful for everyone on here, for God, and for all the people I have presently helping me out in my life. I know I am very fortunate, and I am doing everything I need to do learn and grow from this, and hopefully be able to help others in the future.

really good news - but more importantly really GOOD WORK on your part!! not maybe the "worry yourself to death" part, but doing the next RIGHT thing, making the sober commitment, and taking the necessary actions that demonstrate to others your willingness to take your lumps.
i bet it's a long time before you taking the privilege of driving for granted!!!!

What a lovely post.
Wishing you all the best as you continue on the journey. A clear mind is the best one for making things happen in your life - wonderful to hear a great story of someone staying on track and seeing results in their life.
Best wishes with the job too. You are doing all the right things.

I am very happy for you. I know this has been a truly life-changing experience for you. I'm really glad that it didn't destroy your life plans as you thought it might. You did the right things to help your case and it worked out pretty well. Congratulations on your sobriety and I do hope you will continue to use SR as a source of support.

...the past is a bucket of ashes, so live not in your yesterdays, not just for tomorrow, but in the here and now. Keep moving and forget the postmortems; and remember, no one can get the jump on the future. --Carl Sandburg
