All I can say is what a relief. I'm still sad, disappointed in myself, scared and feeling guilty. But I am no longer hopeless. Oh, the irony of the alcoholic. We cause so much damage and are so seemingly selfish while we're drinking......But once in recovery, what a bunch of kind, non judgmental, downright funny folks.

I went to a meeting I feel safe at, so I think I'll stick to this one for now. Baby steps. But I was wrong about not wanting the fellowship. Very wrong.

Now the hard part, starting the steps all over again with a whole new set of things to process.

So good to see this and that your experience was turned around. I also feel at peace at meetings and when I come here. Nobody can get us like others who wear our same shoes.

We're still accountable for the things we do but there's something about being surrounded by those who truly understand what it's like to be in this boat.

Exactly. I mean, it's not "fun"....but it sure beats what I was doing this morning. Crying and not knowing what to do.
