The advice usually given here is to get a doctor's help in quitting drinking. Yes, cold turkey can be dangerous, but we can't tell if you will have trouble detoxing or not. Best to ask your doctor for medical help in getting safely thru withdrawal.

Hi olliesdad

yeah, noone can give you any guarantees one way or the other here. If you're concerned it really is best to get checked out by a Doctor

I can say from personal experience you do not want to go through serious withdrawal. It could have easily killed me. Obviously it didn't but it was absolutely horrible and required hospitalization. Believe it or not I was drinking the next day. That day was the last drink I ever took.

When I got honest with myself and others including the medical community I started on the path to recovery

There is lots of good advice here.

I am glad you've decided to stop drinking.

I had seizures going c/t. Weird thing is, there were no signs whatsoever. I felt fine, no withdrawal symptoms or anything. Or maybe I was delirius so I couldn't sense them. The seizures happened two days after I quit.
