Another go at quitting
I find myself back here again after letting things get out of hand once again. I try to believe that I can control alcohol but realise that it's the other way round. I never drink during the week but at the weekends I'll look for any excuse to get drunk. (Weather, sport events etc). I know that it's doing me no good but it's so difficult to say no or to control the cravings. I quit alcohol for almost six weeks prior to xmas last year but then slipped back into the same pattern. I just feel really powerless over it and it gets me really depressed as I know its the wrong thing to do.
6 weeks is a good amount of time. If you've done it that long, you know it is possible. What will you do differently this time?

Welcome back! I had many day ones in the past as well. On NYE I decided I was done, and have been sober since January 1st. It gets easier and the thoughts of drinking are less. Also, waking up every morning with a clear head and ready to face whatever the day may bring is worth it.
SR has been the biggest part of my plan, as well as daily texting with a sober buddy who stopped the same day as me. You should join the May class, having a group of people at the same point in their sobriety journey is very helpful.

Welcome back, and be proud of the 6 weeks you accomplished!
I found that I had to make changes in my lifestyle to sustain recovery. Have you made other changes in your life, other than not drinking? If not, it might be helpful.

My day one again, let us hope we manage to stick to a sober regime this time. At least I know today I will not drink. I am keeping this forum open all night and will post till midnight if I have to so that I don't gravitate towards the kitchen.
It's pretty simple. Get the booze out of your house. Avoid drinking friends and venues. Exercise, eat frequently and reduce your stress for a while. Post on here regularly. Go to a meeting if you need more support. This isn't rocket science.
Do you have any ideas on a recovery plan lbs - what yopu'll do to stay sober?
