Shower curtain - so simple

I hung up a new shower curtain just now. Easy peasy...very simple to do. Whenever I replace my shower curtain I remember very clearly being wine drunk and trying to do the same simple activity many moons ago. I just could NOT figure out how to do it. I cursed myself for buying such complicated shower hooks. I couldn't figure out the dynamics.

It made me reflect on how this simple task threw me. If replacing a shower curtain had become so complicated, then so many other things in my life was also complicated when I was drinking. I couldn't figure out the most simple of things when I was actively drinking. No wonder my life was hell. I'm so glad I'm not in that place anymore. If you are struggling, don't give up. Do whatever is necessary to stop. Your life will become so much less complicated :)

One of the most treasured parts of sobriety for me has been clarity. With clarity comes perspective. When we drink, our perception of things, people, and situations become twisted out of proportion and distorted.

Clarity that has come out of sobriety has improved life beyond what I knew was possible. We are so much better without drinking. Cognitive function improves as well.

It's amazing how much simpler and more enjoyable my sober life is. :) I take pleasure in the little things and I absolutely love waking up feeling good. :)

Well put and so true SC. I remember making the same simple tasks so difficult by being drunk. What a waste. So glad we are not in that place any more!

It's amazing how alcohol complicates our lives in so many ways.

Hahaha! I bought a new one a few months ago and I know the feeling. Even sober it was a bit of a pain though!:lmao

Alcohol robbed me of my treasured creativity. Now that it's back I'm in heaven! Tomorrow I'm baking homemade dog biscuits :)
It's great to be awake and alive isn't it??
