Day 2 struggles

Hope everyone is good. Does anyone ever find day 2/3 the hardest?

Feel a mile better already face less swollen, actually eating and I got a good sleep last night but night of day 2 always kills me the most. Especially a Sunday when I used to enjoy my night of drinking.

Physically I feel fine no problems with withdraws it is the mental side I struggle with. How long was it before the mental side stops wanting drink?

The first 5 days for me were hellish and I am not sure I could put them on a scale of which was worse but it calmed down, at least for me after that, it's a good reminder to come here and read posts like yours, even when it's been weeks or months it is very helpful.

Mental side effects depends on what you mean as things like anxiety and depression for example can go on for many weeks.

All the best
Andrew

Hi Andrew.

I meant physical I don't need a drink it is all in my head, trying to put alcohol out my mind and it's all I can think about.

Usually somewhere between day 15-25 is where I usually have the urge come knocking hard. After that I do pretty well until 60 or so.

I think it's pretty normal to be thinking about drinking on Day 2. It will take awhile before you notice that you aren't thinking so often about drinking. What worked for me in the very early days was to change my routine. Since Sunday was usually a drinking day for you, how about going out and doing something totally different - go for a hike, a bike ride, visit a sober friend, go for coffee - whatever it takes to get through the moments. You're doing great!

Watching my face slowly deflate was a beautiful thing, like sunrises and puppies and chocolate cake... just beautiful...

Yeah I was happily surprised today, hopefully it continues and the redness disappears. I did the toilet as well which was great haha

I'm glad you're feeling better Tambdy.

It took me a while before I stop wanting a drink, but it's different for everyone.

What I do know is the more you starve that feeling, the easier it will get, in time

D

Yup, it's different for all of us. At day 2 I still had severe tremors. All my muscles ached severely from the tremors. It was absolutely exhausting! I didn't want a drink yet, I just wanted physical relief. The good part is the physical WD was pretty much over in few more days. Hang in there it will get better for you soon!
