Day 4...and ugh it's terrible Hello! Totally new to the forum so not sure how to introduce myself. Mid 20's female, living in Canada... After two years of drinking each day (for a regular person heavily)...a traumatic experience happen about 5 months ago and I started to go downhill...and last week I've binge drink for 5 days in a row (not sure if we can mention amount here...but it's a lot). On Monday morning may 2nd realize wtf am I doing with my life...and decided to "stop" . 6 hours later I started puking and call the ER...went into severe withdrawal and etc. Now 96 hours later...it's hell. DT is terrible, but still better than yesterday. I went to my first F2F AA meeting last night and soon heading out for another one tonight. So hi I guess! |
Hi! The good news is that day 5 is going to be better. And then day 6 will be even better. Stay on the course. Welcome! Bug |
Hi and welcome, If someone would have told you at 21 what you know now, would you have started drinking..... Nope.... Don't blame yourself. Blame the government. They know all about t h is. Now you are like us....addicted for life.... 6 days is a nice start. Stay clean. Adjust your life. |
I'm glad you're starting to feel better. It's good that you joined us. |
My first few days of sobriety were absolutely horrific. I had been drinking insane amounts for a long time and had terrible DT's also. But as others have pointed out it will start to get much better soon. Hang in there! Make an effort to remember how bad it can get & use it to help keep you from returning back to the dark side. It really helps keep me sober as I never ever want to go through that again. Good Luck! :) |
Let me tell you ... First days suck! But it gets easier.... I made it to day 14 today. You WILL feel better soon. |
Welcome to SR frenchwanderlus :) |
Welcome! You can ALWAYS find support and someone to talk to here. The hardest mental part of finding recovery is deciding that enough is enough and to make the decision to stop and never go back there. Soon you will be done with the physical aspects, counseling with a substance abuse counselor might be a really good move to make at this point in your recovery. You never have to feel like this EVER again as long as you continue to move forward and never look back! |
We're very glad to meet you - and we all understand what you're going through. :) You'll begin to feel better, & you never have to go back to that miserable way of life again. |
I am just back from my second meeting ! Women only tonight...while it was nice, I connected more to the Queer one I went to yesterday. Valium is definitevely helping, but compare to yesterday I can stay more hours without having to take a pill, which is nice :) TMI...but holy hell constipation anyoone? Thanks all for the welcome! |
Welcome to SR, you will find lots of support on here. You will also start to feel better each day. |
Welcome FW |
Welcome. And we'll done for getting to some meetings so quickly. I hope you start to feel physically better soon. Keep reading and posting. This place plus AA were my lifelines, and continue to be so. |
