First time here

Hi everyone. This is my first day in here. I went on a 5 day bender and really messed up and called off work the past three days. I quit drinking at 11 last night and had one beer today just to alleviate the shakes. Do you think I'll be ok to go to work? I'm a little jumps but that's about it for now.. Earlier was worse with the tremors and plus racing but since calmed. Have any of you felt better after about 36 hours or what's your experience. Thanks for helping. I'm so done with this life! I don't drink daily and will go weeks without but I do binge and this one scared me.

I'm a binge drinker too..who can go weeks without drinking. The binges are definitely scare.

Everyone is different I think in respect to when they feel better. But I can tell you that each day you're sober, you'll feel a bit better.

Welcome to SR!!!

Welcome! If you need one beer to quiet the shakes, you might want to do a medical detox. Drinking to stop the shakes just puts them off til later. As long as you're drinking, you will have the shakes.

I hope we can help you get sober for good. It's a much better way of living.

Welcome to SR!!

I recommend seeing a doctor, as alcohol withdrawal can be quite serious and everyone reacts different.

I also recommend you keep reading and posting here. When I was knew, I read and read and kept hearing "my" story come up, regardless of the substance being abused.

We're like family here, so welcome to the family.

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

You guys are awesome thank you for the support! I've been reading a lot and I was so comforted to know people are going thru the same thing I am. It def helps. I've battled with going sober and now it's just time. Blacking out and running around town with no recollection of nights is terrible! I have a boyfriend that is being supportive even after I picked fights with him. Just hope I'm ok at work. I usually would never miss work and doing this is way too risky. Anxiety is the worst!

Welcome! We have all been there, and I agree that you should see a doctor to assist you.

Welcome aboard PG. The withdrawals will taper off with time. Hang in there

Hi purpleglam

none of us are doctors so we can't tell you you'll be ok or not.

If you feel concerned or unwell at anytime it's best to see a Dr
