Drinking again

Hi, I started drinking again. I think I was 11 days sober then started again. I'm full of anxiety. I have some legal issues with my 2 brothers. They are very mean to me and my family. Just keep drinking.

I'm sorry that you decided to drink. Hopefully you will be able to deal with the legal issues that are causing you stress. And, I hope you get back to sobriety tomorrow.

I'm sorry to hear you are going through a rough time, but I think you know that drinking isn't making anything better in the long run. I used to tell myself oh i'm stressed that is why I use. Then I realized that I used when I was happy, celebrating, stressed, full of anxiety, bored, celebrating, etc. etc. I had to be honest with myself that NOTHING is an excuse to drink or use.

Have you considered finding a doctor that can help with prescribing medicines for different symptoms you might be experiencing or a psychiatrist to help with the anxiety? Counseling has also been a huge help for me personally. Staying in recovery has been much easier since I changed my main doctor to an addiction specialist, got a psychiatrist that specializes in addiction, and started seeing a substance abuse counselor.

Don't give up!

Your addictive voice convinced you that you needed or deserved a drink or a drink would make things better. You know you never need a drink and no matter how badly someone treats you you don't deserve one either. You just want one and are playing mind games with yourself. Hop back on the wagon tomorrow. You can do it.

Sorry you are having a difficult time with your brothers. As stressful as things get it is easier to deal with them sober. Hope to see you back tomorrow for Day 1.

There is nothing so bad that drinking can't make it worse.

Drinking will only make your anxiety worse in the long run cos you'll not only be anxious from your problems, but you'll also be anxious for your 'fix' of alcohol.

why not post here more instead - maybe join the Class of May support thread?

I thought for years alcohol helped me with anxiety. Just another lie my addiction made me believe.

Welcome back, khorrillo. Drinking is not the answer. Some good sobriety will help you with all parts of your life.
