First time poster

First time poster. Found this site while educating myself on the mental and physical pitfalls of heavy drinking.

And yes I'm one of those. Just came off a four day bender. Called off work three days in a row just so I could go on drinking.

Now it's become clear I need to quit this stuff. It's going to be hell at work, people know why I don't show up! Tonight's coming insomnia and nightmares don't promise much fun either.

That's just it though, it's easy enough to quit for a while, then I wind up in the same fix over and over. Hoping by that reading around here, I can find some sober inspiration. Thanks.

You can do it if you admit the problem to yourself and commit yourself.

Welcome!

Welcome Eric, it's tough to quit but in hindsight in my own case well worth the effort and I too have called in many times on a binge so I could stay home and drink.

Welcome! I was just thinking about how drinking can be like an amusement park ride. I know that merry-go-round all too well and was on it for years. I needed to do something different that involved action, a plan of action...get off that ride that didn't work. Stick around and read what others are doing to move forward into a new way of life. A strong desire to stop will carry you a long way. My life is still a bit of a roller coaster but at least it's fun, exciting and I'm moving forward!

Hi Eric welcome, i'm only 29 days sober so I don't have all the answers but I have a heck of a lot of hope, more than i've had in a decade. You can do this if you really want to.

Welcome to the family. You won't regret getting sober. I got sober over six years ago and don't regret a minute of it.
