100 days today
Today is 100 days with no alcohol ~! I knew I had a problem for years and tried to stop drinking with various degrees of success. I used to think not drinking through the week was good. Going 30 days seemed impossible. Once I wound up in the hospital and did not drink for a year. But I always relapsed. I hope I have finally admitted to myself that one beer leads to 6, 6 leads to 12, then off to buy more. I used to keep a back up 12 pack in the garage just in case. I don't want to be that person anymore. I have experienced PAWS and still have up and down days. 40 years of drinking will not heal overnight. But I am making the change. The interesting thing is nobody cares if I don't drink. I order water or soda and just tell people I am avoiding alcohol because of my health. That's the truth. To the people here at SR, thank you. I log in and read almost every night. The support here is so important, and to those struggling know that it is never too late to make a change. The most important thing is to take that first step, and it begins with day one. 100 days ago I was hung over and my hands shook. But I am better, and life is better. Thank you everyone!
Congrats on 100, that's a fantastic accomplishment Jim! Glad to hear that you are seeing some improvement and realizing so many of the lies that alcohol told you were really not true...who'd thunk, right?
