Louis Theroux Drinking to Oblivion

Documentary chronicling the misery so many of us have or are experiencing because of our daily battle with alcoholism. Well worth watching.

Thanks, maiden, I have been looking forward to watching this since soberwolf posted about it. : )

I actually read somewhere that Louis Theroux himself admits to drinking up to 2 bottles of wine a night. he stated in an interview I read but I can not remember the source...He is a very talented interviewer, his non-judgemental style seems to allow people to open up to him.

Yes notime...Louis mentions the fact he can drink 1-5 - 2 bottles in a night in this doco.
I used to drink 2 a night every night, so I know he would be getting trashed. Interesting huh

I can rarely watch things like this, but I watched this one.

Very sad, and harrowing in parts, but undeniably powerful.

Recommended.

thanks Maiden and SW

I wish I could see this. Is it because I'm in the US? I checked my cable provider and we have BBCAmerica but I couldn't find this documentary.

I felt so bad for Aurelie. Her "boyfriend" was so cruel to her and she seemed like a really smart, kind woman who unfortunately is dying from her alcoholism and doesn't think she deserves better. So sad.

[spoilers]
i found the story of the young boy particularly close to home. He's not what people would traditionally deem to have an alcohol problem, but he binged to massive excess and bounced from detox to relapse. It was great to see him come through the other side.

It did take its toll though. The young girl seemed to have given up and it hurt to watch

I have a feeling that Aurelie will be in recovery soon enough you can tell how nice she is aa a person just by looking into her eyes but she is afraid & lost I really hope she makes it

I can't stand that person she hung out with really hope she drops him
