One of the alcoholics reminded me of my father .. he'd go the hospital for detox ... then keep sneaking out to the dumpster to drink beer he'd stashed. By the end of the day a member of the hospital staff told him "We have a problem ... you've been here for hours, but your blood alcohol level is going up instead of down."

I didn't get that bad .. but I was getting worse over time. No doubt I would have gotten that bad in time .. if I lived that long.
