I only made it 6 days

I drank last night, I feel guilt and that I am such a fool. Doctor says I need to stop because of Neuropathy in feet. I have been a heavy drinker for over 40 years. When my alcoholic mind has the desire I cant seem to stop it. The only thing I forgot yesterday was my daily mediation. Feeling low right now , and out of control..thanks for listening

There is nothing wrong with starting again. I have had many day 1's. I am past 90 days now. Try again. Every day not drinking is progress in my opinion.

I'm glad you're trying again.

Is there anything else you can add to your recovery plan? I found that exercise (walking, in my case) was very helpful in the early days.

For me willpower was never enough. I had to have the support of others. In the beginning it was IOP and now it is AA and SR

Everyone stumbles. Get back on your feet and walk some more sober steps, y'know?

We can do this, bud.

eyeball - you need to put a plan together to help you stay accountable. You may want to also learn a set of coping skills for when you are in a situation that makes you want to drink.

Check in here as often as needed as well for some great support.

Only six days?

Only???? That is six whole days of not drinking. Celebrate that and start again tomorrow.

Don't give up! We all make mistakes.

The only wrong thing you can do is doing nothing at all about your AV

Thanks everyone I did my mediation again and have decided to pray to my creator next time I want to drink. After all it is "they will not mine", and his will is to stop not my will I feel like a drink.

Feeling like or wanting a drink doesn't mean you haven't quit or even that you don't want to quit.
You are going to feel like or want a drink until you don't and one of the biggest components in that is time from our last drink. Accept that those feelings may be present even constant in the very early goings and push through. They are just feelings, cravings they will pass , you can ride them out. They are uncomfortable , but 'get throughable' , the feelings of guilt and shame aren't just uncomfortable , they hurt they do lasting damage. The best news is they are avoidable , rootin for ya

Don't beat yourself up....I had a very shameful night last night myself. We need to forgive ourselves and try to view the root cause of the drinking without judgement. One day at a time....just focus on staying sober one day at a time. The reward is in how much better you're going to feel each morning. When you get that craving, acknowledge it without judgement and remember what you really want.

Six days is awesome. I feel ya, I had over a week and blew it last night. Strarting over isnt fun, but at least we are trying, and still want sobriety. For those facts alone, Im grateful.

In the same boat. Made it 6 days and then stumbled. Back on the horse. I am on day 2 and it feels very good to not be hung over today.

You know that you can do it because you went 6 days sober.
I lost many a good amount of sober time.
But, it does tell us that we can do it again.
That's a long time drinking -- you remind me of me.
Yes, best we put the plug in the jug.

Please start your sobriety over and keep in close touch with us,

If you're not sure what your plan should look like this time, there's some great ideas here:
