11 Days!

Well I have made it to my 11 day. Been sober the whole time. Still have ups and downs. And take a lot of naps. I still have a lot of anxiety and I have meds for that. How do you keep staying sober?
I want a drink so bad. I passed one up yesterday.

Whenever I was having a bad craving I took it by the hour, if I got through that hour without drinking the urge had passed. It gets easier the longer you stay sober, hang in there!

Do you attend meetings at all?

Having a plan in early recovery is also helpful - http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...y-plans-2.html

I stay sober by wanting to be sober more than I want to drink.

It's been working for over six years now.

Congrats on 11 days sober! Keep going, it gets better.

Time really does make a difference with cravings. I have a little sober time now, and I still have thoughts about drinking, but it's few and far between and no where's as strong as in early recovery.
Getting used to life's ups and downs sober also makes a big difference. John

I'm not sure how to go to meetings online.
However today is better than yesterday. I've slept a lot which helps me get through the day. I've struggled with drugs and drinking my whole life. That kinda stuff ran in the family. My uncle was drunk driving one time and rear ended a police car. Our family was out of control. That's a little humor for you.

I did it by changing my environment. I don't have any of the alcohol that I drank in the house, and I had a did a complete makeover (mentally) of how I viewed my "harmless" drinking. I also used this forum, and still do, every single day.

Keep going, your doing great.

Take it day-by-day Khorillo, sometimes minute by minute. Do what ever it takes to not drink. The longer you go, the easier it will get. Just never give in or give up.

You're doing great. I promise, it does get easier.
