What is your new beverage of choice?
Kicked the diet soda habit earlier this year. On day three of sobriety from being a wino. I can't drink coffee past the morning, nor do I like tea. I drink a LOT of water and after a while, enough is enough.
Suggest some types of beverages (not soda) that you think might be a good alternative. I do love lemonade (fresh) but lots of sugar in that.
I think the need for having a glass in your hand at a gathering or event might be equal to missing a cigarette in your hand when you quit smoking at these events. What do you do with your hands?

I like to mix about a 1/3 of fresh squeezed juice with LeCroix. A sparkling water with no sodium. Target has all kinds of cool flavors too. I like to make a pitcher of infused filtered water too. Stuff like mint, cucumber, strawberries, melon just cut up and left to sit in the water. Then strain and drink. There are tons of new herbal teas that make great ice tea...sweeten lightly with something like honey or agave. Love my morning coffee. Iced coffee is great too.
If I'm at home, pink grapefruit squash made with fizzy water. If out I'll have diet mixers. Diet coke, tonic water,or ginger ale (the mixer, not alcoholic).
If out somewhere that they have alcohol free cocktails I love the ones that's fresh lime, mint leaves and ginger.

I loved La Croix even while I was drinking and more so now. I drink about four (at least) a day.
A new thing I discovered and LOVE are the Kombucha drinks. They have probiotics, and there are different flavors. I think it may be an acquired taste because they smell a bit strange, but I feel great after I have one. I am having the ginger aide right now

When I'm at a nice restaurant I like ordering Perrier or Pellegrino...makes me not feel " left out " if others are drinking wine or cocktails.
Good for you swearing off alcohol AND soda...I'm at 4 months on the sobriety journey and still on baby steps when it comes to kicking soda and carbs...it's on the list.
