Today I am not going to drink

I need to keep repeating this as I'm really struggling today......need to fight to stay sober

It is really helping me early on to repeat, "today I cannot drink". I then prepare my list of reasons as to why, and think of the setback I will have in having that drink. I know that I am allergic to alcohol, and life becomes unpredictable once I start.

Do you check in on the 24 Hour Support Thread? It's a great supportive place to commit to not drinking..... just for today.

I also like to log in to the Chat room here on SR; it has helped me through a lot of cravings to just have a live convo with someone who understands. Maybe give it a whirl? Stay close to us!

When you are really wanting a drink ... remove yourself from the current situation. Go do something different. I got my whole house clean and my car .. I then talked on the phone for over an hour .. in that time I totally forgot about the desire to drink.
