115 Days Sober -- My Longest Time without Alcohol
Hello everyone --
I'm 115 days sober and grateful to be here. This is the longest time I've gone without alcohol since I first picked up a 12-pack, passed out, and blacked out 20 years ago (moderation never existed for me with alcohol, not even at the very beginning). Life is getting better. Some days -- and even some weeks -- I feel like the downs are more frequent than the ups, but it's starting to balance out now. Sobriety has let me work through things in my life and my mind that were frozen under layer upon layer of alcoholic turmoil and humiliation and shame and denial and destruction. Thank you all for your posts and comments. I read them every day, even though I don't always respond.
I know 115 days isn't a whole lot, but when I first started getting sober, 30 days seemed like light years away. So for those just getting started, keep it up. Weather the storms. Reach out. Whatever you do, don't drink. It's worth it. I have a long way to go in my recovery, but that doesn't discount how long I've come. I'm seeing more and more each day how this is truly worth it.

115 days!!! That's great and it's a lot. You should be really proud of yourself R&H.
Somebody once told me, "Stop beating yourself up! You are a work in progress, which means you get there a little at a time, not all at once".
