Hi, finally got the courage to visit my doc

So after going through a lot of lows and some highs, I finally went to see my doc for help. The whole process was painless, no shame or degrading faces from anyone who worked there, including the pharmacist. I told my doc my story and how I needed help cause I don't feel right sometimes. He prescribed me Zoloft, some sort of anti depressant. Going to start it tomorrow. I don't want to have anymore freak outs online, I don't want to be so depressed that I post stuff on facebook which I regret the next day. I love u guys

Anyone have experience with Zoloft?

Great that you received help, I have never taken this medication, Currently I take Trazodone which eliminates the depression so PTSD does not kick in and
Seroquel for Bi Polar, many of the SSRI's have unpleasant side effects at first but I know from reading and my own experience, give your body 7 to 14 days to adjust even if it's really hard to do.

Wishing you the best
Andrew

Hi Whopper
I cannot take SSRI's...they don't react well with me. I do know that these meds will not be effective if you drink while taking them...just a thought.
Keep us posted!

I've been on Zoloft (sertraline) for years and it serves me very well. It keeps my depression at bay. When I was on it and drinking, it didn't work as it should but now that I'm sober, it works very well.

I had some side effects at first but they went away.

Hi everyone! I took my 1st pill today, and within an hour I could feel the difference. Its like wow! Holy cow! I couldn't help it but laugh and smile by myself a few times. I feel a little buzzed, but happy. I don't feel like drinking today, and I don't plan on it so that is a plus.

Whopper, good for you for talking to your doc! There are quite a few different anti-depression meds and different ones work for different people. There is no magic way to determine ahead of time what will work best. I was on several different ones before Zoloft and this one works for me. If for any reason it doesn't work for you, your doc can work with you to find something that will.
