One Week, Who Would Have Thought?

I am one week sober today. This past week I started intensive outpatient therapy, have been attending AA regularly and Saturday even got a sponsor. I still have the bruise from the IV at the ER to remind me of what happens if I drink. This time feels different, I think it was because I finally became desperate and was willing to finally surrender and do what I had to do. The more I do, the more it feels like less of "surrender" and more of joining the fight to get my life back. I had a wonderful sober weekend for the first time in forever and am sleeping better than ever. There have been some rough days, a lot of emotional days, but I made it through them with all of the tools I have picked up. The other times I tried were half hearted, at best, and this time I am finally putting in the work. I am thankful to be sober today, and thankful to all of you. It helps so much to come on here and post or just read to get reminders or little nuggets of wisdom. You all are definitely in my sober tool box :tyou

I'm on day 9. It's tough but we'll all get through it together.
