New to the group

I'm sober 48 hours now. I'm doing ok but the withdrawals have been terrible. Today they feel better. I'm actually hungry today. I have to stay sober for myself and my family. I have a new grandson. My doctor took blood tests to check my liver and they can back bad. I go in two weeks for another blood test. Well good luck to all of you. I will stay in touch with you all.

Welcome! There's lots of good support here. Liver damage is yet another good reason to stay sober. If you stop drinking, it is possible for the liver damage to improve. How much is different for each of us but the key thing to remember is to not drink, no matter how much you crave it.

Welcome! We're in good company here....not sure if you're familiar with the 24 hour forum, but it's helpful to keep in touch each day and check in for one day of sobriety at a time. I hope all goes well with your doctor appointment....hugs to you and your new grandbaby!

I'm so glad you are here!

Facing the different damages of alcoholism can be hard, but not drinking insures that most of this damage won't get worse, and much of it will get better. Just remember that in 2 weeks of sobriety it will feel a whole lot better than at 2 days!

Try not to sweat the stuff of the past that you can't change, and look to the future with hope of stopping the damage!

Welcome and great job on 48 hours! Each hour of each day matters. All we can do is control this moment of this day, I have found that if I continually make the right choices for the current moment then I start to see my sobriety time continues to grow and grow.

You can do this and I hope your next blood test goes better. Remember it takes time for our bodies to recover after being so abused for so long so don't get discouraged if your tests don't immediately start to improve. It all takes time, and you can do it!

Welcome,

Expect a few more days of detox and then the mental issues will be more obvious.

Your brain is deeply hurt and will take a long time to normalize.

No medical advice here. If you need a dr. See one. Some folks need meds to survive. You might have some already.

I did my recovery drug free. It was very hard, but I had to otherwise I would have lost my job. I lost 30 lbs and am in the best physical shape ever. Mentally, it is all coming together.

Getting used to normal is what we have to deal w.

It gets better by the moment as long as u don't drink.

Smile Welcome

I am new here too. Congrats on your first 48 hours--you never have to feel this way again. Withdrawls suck but they will pass. I really felt like punching someone when they said that to me, but it is true.

Pray, even if you don't know who you're praying to. Sit on your hands if you have to. I always find when I'm craving or feeling close to a relapse, I go to youtube and look up videos on bulldog puppies or whatever your favorite animal or thing is. It distracts me long enough for the pain to usually pass.

The most important thing--reach out for help. You do not have to do this alone. Please know that.

Bless you and I pray your pain eases, even if it is just a minute for you to feel the warmth of the sun.
