Reason #43 im glad I'm sober

If I weren't I would be in no condition to drive to the hospital to visit my dad, who was admitted today. We are still waiting for answers as to the severity of the issues. 😟

Hi ICDB,
Agreed! My very elderly grandmother was struck by a car last week and I received the Sheriff's call late in the evening. This was the first time in many years that I got out of bed clear eyed and drove off into the night without a fear in the world that I would have to interact with said Sheriff ..... It is an amazing feeling to have one's wits intact 24/7 and to be there when needed.
Best
Jonathan

She's fine now and it wasn't the first time getting up sober.....I've had almost 100 of those nights..... just the first time I've been thrust into something..... wanted to clarify.

Prayers for your Dad, ICanDoBetter. I'm so glad you were in good shape to drive & be coherent.

Jonathan - I'm sorry to hear of your grandmother's accident - that's terrible.

I can't believe all the years I stumbled through life numb & fuzzy. It's a ridiculous way to live.

Glad you were up to the task. There are so many good reasons to stay sober.

It's scary. Driving here brought back memories of visiting my mother here. I know may way around his hospital far too well for comfort.

Well I made it through another night without drinking. Daytime is no problem for me. I think the withdrawals are getting better. I ate today and had coffee. However I'm so tired need lots of naps right now.

I'm glad that I'm dealing with and processing all of this sober. Life is hard enough without stumbling through pivotal moments either drunk or hungover. The emotions are raw, but as Dad told me yesterday, you have to have the valleys to enjoy the peaks. <3
