I do not take b-1 (currently) but I used to take all kinds of supplements and vitamins. The only thing I can contribute is that it is wise to do your homework when selecting what brand you purchase. The supplement industry (in the US anyway) is not regulated and it is important to purchase a high quality brand. One that has been lab tested to make sure you are getting what you pay for.

I should say that I agree with checking with a doctor. Everything I take was issued by a doctor.
