New Member - Day 1
Hi. My name is Kara. I am making today my first sober day.
I woke up with a hangover from drinking nearly a whole bottle of vodka yesterday and again the day before. I'm tired of abusing alcohol and thinking I can control my drinking. I would love to get my life on track.
I hate being a drunk, which is what I frequently am. I just hope I can do it. Hangovers are no fun and I hate to think about the amount of money I spend on booze! It's just so pointless. I can't figure out why I let myself do this to me. It's nice to know I'm not alone however I don't have any kids (can't keep a man lol) but I do have a dog and I hate the way I ignore him when I'm drunk.

Kara, many of us have been inspired by our pets to be better people. I'm glad that you have decided to stop drinking. You are not alone, and you will find lots of inspiration here.
I drank a fifth of vodka pretty much every day for over a year. I am glad I didn't have a dog then because the poor thing would have never gotten out of the house. My girlfriend at the time stuck around as long as she could but she had a breaking point.
My vodka drinking days were my worst days of alcoholism. drinking a bottle alone is a sure sign that you need professional help.

Hi Kara! Congratulations for starting a sober life!

Hi and welcome again Kara
Being part of this community really helped me to get past that period where I'd try to convince myself I'd over reacted and I was 'not that bad'.
Reading my own posts back and other peoples stories convinced me I belonged here
I know we can help you too
