4:30am talk with myself

Hey everyone,

I am almost 2 months without the drink! I am so proud of myself and all the great changes I have seen in such a short time. I just caught myself awake in bed at 4:30 pondering how great it would be just get smashed one night and let loose a "bit"... And then it hit me. No no no no...I am NOT going back to that life... It almost killed me in my prime. I feel so far past alcohol at this point that any genuine thought of getting a bottle of vodka needs to be addressed.

Pros I've experienced from quitting the drink:
Lost 30 pounds
Don't sweat anymore
Don't panic anymore
Don't have anxiety
Confidence up
Sex life up
Energy up
Sleep up
Happiness up
Work productivity up
Body pain DOWN!!

I feel HAPPY ... All the time. The drink used to give me that at a great consequence. Now I receive 10x the feel good moments in my life...its incredible.

I know what being stuck in an alcoholic rutt feels like... And I now understand what being clean feels like. I gotta tell ya... I choose clean

SO!.. Good night to my AV and good night to you all! Zzz

Congrats on two months. Getting past the first month is especially challenging.

It's very liberating waking up without hangovers and the guilt and sickness, isn't it?

I'm not exactly that proud to say it lol, but I kinda "tricked" myself and my AV into letting the drink go for a bit in the very beginning. 2 months ago, I started by telling everyone around me that I was going on a diet to lose weight. So to lose weight, I stopped eating bad food ANNNDDD gave up the drink(we all know how calorie-loaded alcohol is). Everytime I wanted to drink, I told my AV I was on a diet and and I sorta reassured myself that I'd drink soon enough.

About 2 weeks into this diet mentality, When I built up enough sober days and weight loss, I told myself and my AV (legitimately looked at myself in the mirror) that I was done with alcohol. It was easier after some abstinence to give up the drink entirely. It's less scary/difficult to quit drinking when you aren't in that first week of withdrawals!

Im almost at 2 months booze free and I'm loving every SECOND of my life. To think I wasted so much time waiting to drink, drinking the drink, dealing with being drunk, dealing with the puking, dealing with the hangover, dealing with the guilt, dealing with the sweats, shakes, stress, lying, crying, annnnnnddd so on.

All I can say is keep trying to quit. It only takes 1 attempt to succeed. So make today that attempt! If it doesn't stick, try again!!!! You have a lot more attempts in you than you believe Hunter

If I can do it, so can you
