What's your favorite moment of your sober day?

I know sober mornings are borderline miraculous, but lately I just love the moment when I put my head on my cool pillow and snuggle in to sleep. My heart isn't racing, my mouth doesn't taste vile, I'm not thirsty or muddle-headed...I'm at peace with myself.

What's your favorite time?

I like mornings for the next 4 months or so - cool and clear :)

I love waking up with a clear head. I love being out on my porch doing woodwork and being inside the moment, nothing exists but the saw and the wood. I love going to sleep at night tired ... an honest tired ... not slumping into bed with a woozy head.

Thanks, Dee...it still argued a bit in saving the final edit, but it worked!

I was going to say I don't think I have a favorite moment, but then I read the rest of your post. I am not a morning person AT ALL, but I have to admit that mornings are much better when I wake up sober, knowing exactly what happened the night before. No throbbing head, no dizziness, no lurching stomach as I read Facebook posts and text messages that I have no memory of writing. Yeah, mornings are much better sober!

That being said, my son is 13 and still likes to snuggle on the couch in the mornings before he gets dressed for school. That is, by far, my favorite time of the day. I know it won't be long before he doesn't want to do that anymore so I cherish it each and every day. It would really suck if, during those times, all I could think about was how crappy I felt because of alcohol.

Yep, totally agree. Mornings of all things Lol!!

StayStrong33 04-12-2016 07:21 PM

Mornings for sure! And I agree laying down to sleep with my integrity intact is a great feeling too

FLCamper 04-12-2016 07:37 PM

Mornings.
But it is nice to accomplish things in the evening, too. And remember them.

Sober days are the best. Tasting and enjoying coffee, decaff is all I can have, still good tho.

Waking up ready to face the day. Really being present, good, or bad. Not having to check my bac, to drive, cause I've been sober.

Most of all, knowing I beat that horrible monster, for just one more day. It doesn't get any better then that. God is good.

Certainly morning-but also being able to run out to a store at 7pm...without worry about being pulled over.

#1. Being awake enough to give my wife a back-scratch at night (she's like a cat that way)
#2. The first cup of coffee staring out the window at sunrise.

Morning coffee time.

I absolutely love waking up sober every morning. Another great perk is being the parent who volunteers to pick up at 9:00 after rehearsal, or host extra kids at my house for the weekend.

It's nice when you do have insomnia and wake up at 3:00 am, you no longer experience that soul crushing panic/depression telling yourself "you really need to get a handle on this drinking thing or else you are going to die." You simply look at the clock, feel relieved that you to get to sleep a bit longer before the start of your day and you close your eyes and do so. While drinking, my worries were 100 times more intense in the middle of the night. I am completely and utterly full of gratitude that I never have to feel like that again.

I've been sober over six years and I never get tired of waking up feeling good. :)

Notimetoloose 04-13-2016 12:19 AM

I agree with Soberween.
Ironically the best part of my day is spent asleep.
It has to be natural sleep for me...continual sleep..wonderful sleep.
While drinking I would wake up at about 3 to 4 am and just feel so shattered and mentally in flames.

Soberwolf 04-13-2016 01:12 AM

favourite moment of any sober day is when the lil unexpected things happen when I receive a unexpected compliment or somebody's kindness I always like that

My fave part of the day is waking up

canguy 04-13-2016 01:32 AM

Gettin up at 5 a.m., making coffee and having a couple of quiet hours doing hobby project. Hands steady, mind relaxed.....never happens with hangover

noneever 04-13-2016 02:15 AM

Waking up with a clear head and no hangover or regrets.
