Glad to meet you, overforty. You're among friends who understand. You sound ready to be free of it - we know you can.
Congrats on your 5 days. Be proud.

Welcome, and congratulations on Day 5!!! There is an app called sober tool and you can track how much money you are saving by not buying that wine every day!

Welcome, glad you've joined us.
All those regrets from drinking?
You'll never regret getting sober.
Good Luck

Day 69 for me and trust me it gets better each day, from mood, to energy levels to motivation, ambition, peace of mind. Stick with it and you will be rewarded in spades!

Welcome,

Education was my key to freedom.

SR got me the information faster and easier than AA ever would have.

I had long term moderate anxiety that was only quelled w alcohol.

Do you have anxiety?

It took many months for this to disapate for me. It gets better every day.

Alcohol is poison. Don't believe the hype. Get clean, stay clean.

Thank you so much!
I'm overwhelmed with the kind words on here!
I'm having a little moment today ( day 6 ) where I feel almost normal ( whatever normal is! ) and I've got metaphorical ants in my pants!
I gave up smoking ( cigarettes after 25 years ) in December which I'm really proud of, as I still drank to excess but didn't touch a cigarette - a small miracle as I have an addictive personality.
I honestly don't know the meaning of moderation in anything I do.
Today I feel like I need to smoke.
I'm so scared that if I cave in and buy a packet I will say **** it - and buy a bottle of wine!
I'm doing my best to distract myself.
SR is an amazing source of information and support - I'm so glad I found it.
I have chosen not to involve myself in AA - as I'm not really into the whole God thing.
But I might pop into a meeting just to see.

Yes, pop into a meeting and see what it's about. Who knows? It's better than buying cigs and throwing all your hard work down the drain.
