back again

I've been on this page several times in the past few years saying I'm ready to quit drinking. In retrospect, I was foolish to think willpower would be enough. I've been sober since Friday and went to my first AA meeting today. I'd been so scared to go, but I was facing having my alcoholism about to make bad changes in my life. So I forced myself to walk in. Overall I liked it and felt great, there were a few things I didn't like but I'm going to try the different meetings in my town and see what suits me best.

This time, I'm armed with a plan.

Well done! Never to late to start sobriety for real. I've tried and failed many times but this time is it for me. I've never attended AA, I almost have a few times but never quite made it. I would be interested to go sometime. Really hope it works out for you.

Congratulations Joey! I am in the same boat.. Did first meeting yesterday and just back from second meeting. Like you have (finally) realised I can't do this myself. I think in our early stages - just keep going back to meetings and don't pick up the first drink.
Many good thoughts and wishes to you.. Let it be the beginning of our new life!

Welcome back Joey!! I first joined in 2012 also, I came back armed with a plan on January 1st, determined to make 2016 my first of many sober years. It is working, and I know it is crucial that o continue to stick with my plan.

Looking forward to being on this journey with you.

❤️ Delilah

Went again today, found a meeting I like a lot better. 4 days sober. Got stressed about a financial issue earlier and chose to address it instead of run to a bottle and/or ignore it.

Welcome back!

I'm not a huge AA guy, but the program helped me get sober 6 years ago.

Before that, I was trying to get sober by relying on the advice of a drunk, me!

It took me a long time to figure out that I didn't have the know how to get, and stay, sober by myself.
