we start with hello

Hi there. I honestly found this site while searching for hobbies I can do instead of drinking. I'm only on day one, but I'm still optimistic. I know as the week goes on it'll get harder, but for now, I know I need to be here. I'm going to try my first AA meeting tomorrow. I'm nervous but I need to start fixing this problem. I'm looking forward to support and meeting people that understand my disease. It's hard, I'm only now starting to open up about it. But it's time.

glad yer here. if farmington refers to farmington,mi, theres a lot of excellent sobriety in aa in that area.
pretty typical to be a little scared of that 1st meeting- it was fear of the unkown for me.
and i found my home.

might want to google "big book online" and do some reading to learn a little of what aa is all about.

Welcome thatjordangirl.

You will find many helpful and supportive people here.
As to your first AA meeting, you don't have to talk if you don't want to, you can just listen.

Best wishes

Both of you, thank you. This is already helpful. I'm going to look up Big Book now. I found a meeting in my area (though it's in Utah, not MI damnit) and I think I just at least need to go and listen. Anything at this point.

Welcome,

Go to the stickies...that is a great start.

My success was aided because i deal w anxiety that has steadily quelled since quitting.

Never want that again.

Alcohol is poison.

Alcohol started as a way to cope with anxiety. It helped for a while but now I feel I am reliant. Stickies, huh? Good call. Thank you ;]

Welcome thatjordangirl! Congratulations on your decision to ditch the alcohol, you won't be sorry. I hope your first AA meeting goes well. Glad you found SR, there are many wonderful people here who are willing to share their knowledge, along with a wealth of information and resources on this site.
