Yup, lots of stuff including the massive laptop I use now :( I just decided on a drunken evening that I 'needed' a new laptop despite already having a brand new one from work. Of course with my drunken logic I thought the bigger the better and order this 17" elephant. Which needs a trolley to cart around. In those days I just didn't care. I stare at it as a daily reminder of the dark days.

Ha! Me too! My late at night online purchasing decisions may not be drunk, but they're certainly not sober. I still get that "what did I do last night?" feeling.

I once booked a trip to NY while drunk. Complete horror the following day. Thank goodness I was able to cancel the bookings.

Oh yes. Sooooo much stuff. My partner used to despair at the number of packages delivered. So did I. Thing is, even sober I have to watch myself with shopping online. I can get a buzz from it, and easily get carried away after the first purchase has seemed to lift my spirits. It's another of my instant gratification areas that I have a big caution sign on. If I'm feeling low, that is NOT the time for me to buy anything online.

Apparently drunk online shopping is a *thing*. According to the news, online retailers see a surge of online shopping around 2:00 a.m. on Friday nights. Various people were interviewed describing their "drunk shopping" escapades, and their sobering realizations at the bills. Has this happened to any of you guys? I know a guy who once ordered 600 buck's worth of Viagra during an Ambien blackout. He didn't realize until the next morning when he saw the confirmation email.

I have not been bit by online shopping, but when I was taking Ambien, I did some goofy things and did not remember any of it. So glad to have kicked that habit. It controlled my life.

A buddy of mine is in AA, he told me of one of the other members in his group who bought a racehorse one night. Next day he saw what he did, tried to back out of it a couple different ways but it seems racehorse people know a few things about selling horses so he ended up paying..

Ouch. Hope it was a winner.

Thomas, I have a friend who has done some very weird stuff on Ambien, enough to scare me into never wanting to take it. Thing is, she knows that if she doesn't go to bed immediately it's very likely she will do something stupid. It doesn't help that she also drinks copious amounts of bourbon and takes xanax and adderal. She is my age, 50, and has everything to live for and has a beautiful life.. I worry about her and have tried to talk to her, but inside she is miserable and self-medicates. Its a very sad thing.

I was shopping for a new scope for a hunting rifle and placed a bid on an eBay type site for the same optics 6 different times. I won 3-4 of the bids but only needed one scope.. The merchants were very upset with me!

I used to do all kinds of work around the house when I was blacked out on ambien and booze, I never knew what I did until I found it later, insanity for sure!

I used to do a lot of shopping but not online. I spent way too much money on dresses that were too short, shoes that I cant walk in. Make up that doesnt look good on me.

And food. Plenty of food. Restaurants.. steak and seafood and cocktails.

I would be rich if I had saved that money.

Lol phoebe. ... mighta been me on the beach.... :D
The worst thing about mine was that I was sooo careful and frugal even when I was quite drunk. I'm trying to remember any that I didn't recall... I'm very bad for impulsively buying books and movies (digital) online whether drunk or sober. I've one-clicked my way through my bank account enough. Lol
If bills were on a one click system instead of say 3 clicks I'd be in better shape. :D

Far be it for me to judge, but that's quite a buffet of drugs to be taking for a 50 year old. Uppers, downers and booze. She must feel like hell most of the time, and I don't blame you for worrying.

I booked a week long vacation to Barbados whilst drunk at 3am. It was actually a destination wedding of an old friend and I RSVP'd the invitation and booked the flight all within a 10 min time span. It was all non refundable but my girlfriend at the time was pretty happy. I pretty much maxed my credit card to do it.

Garden Girl 04-02-2016 09:36 PM

I was drunk once and thought I needed an ab tune up apparently. Confused the next day about the $80 charge, I found out 2-4 weeks later that I was the new owner of an Ab Roller! :/ Really.

WOW! How the heck does that even happen!?! Ha! Don't you have to have an inspection or a place for the horse to live before they just give you a 1,000 lb animal? This blows my mind!:dee

Lucky for me I didn't have any money while I was drinking; I had maybe $50 left on my Credit Card, so drunken shopping wasn't an option.

On the other hand, the reason I didn't have any money was because I was an active alcoholic who could barely work.

And I've heard some doozies here in AA as well...a guy I know bought a boat one night, and couldn't get out of it.

I had an Ambien black out when I was down in Southern Vermont for a weekend in my undergraduate program, and woke up to my alarm in the bed of my hotel room at 7:00 am. I got up and made coffee and started getting ready to leave the hotel to go to campus. Now, I hadn't had a drink in about 2 1/2 years, so I was not looking for the signs of a blackout, and I had never had an Ambien blackout that I knew of. So I was putting my coat on to leave, and there was a huge wad of money in the pocket. After I got to school, I discovered that I had gone to a poker game in another hotel room with a classmate and won several hundred dollars. He had no idea that I was in a blackout. Fortunately, I didn't go walking or driving for food.

While drinking and watching the film "Detroit Rock City" I decided it was necessary to go... yes go... to DETROIT 😆
Booked a non-refundable flight on Priceline. Of course the next day tried to get out of it but noooo...so there was an empty seat on a flight from NY to Detroit and an unforgettable charge on my Visa 😣

venuscat 04-02-2016 10:15 PM

Probably didn't set you back as much as a horse or a boat, but wo.
