hello...I am trying this approach to detour my cravings for alcohol

I have realized that my usage of wine has become frequent and more in quantity.
I made the decision to reduce. I did that lots..I'm proud of myself for that.
I keep record.
However, certain events, situations, feelings....etc create the urge to drink.
I hate feeling powerless.
I need a support network to refer to when I want to cave.
I am here...to say...I drove straight home after I was "craving"and went through a drive-thru for chicken. I know it sounds funny...but I said to myself....what else...bad...do you crave. I said chicken. The best in the city but its fattening.
I said...will it make u upset...depressed...blau ..tomorrow morning????
Will it make u feel low and disgusted that the alcohol won over???
My answer was ....not nearly.

however...it worked tonight. But what about tomorrow or the next day?
I need other support that is positive....not fried chicken with the skin.

So here i am....nice to get this out of my system.::

Hi swansongood! Welcome to SR.
Chicken is a good start, but a solid plan is better.
Read around the forums. Lots of great info.
Post often, you will find a ton of support here. Daily visits here are part of my plan.
Good luck!

For me total abstinence was the only approach that worked with alcohol .

I do have a binge type nature , so can understand turning to food .

One thing i learned is there is a law of diminishing returns ,

10 pieces of chicken do not make me 10 times happier or satisfied ..

Welcome to SR ,

Welcome to SR swansongood.

For me just cutting down kept the cravings raging and I ended up going back to my old habits. Getting rid of alcohol altogether made things a lot more bearable, personally.

Keep us close. :grouphug:
