Hope is Alive Weekender April 1st
Ken, thank you for your intro. Hope is the one thing I didn't think I had when I was drinking. I felt hopeless. I am so glad my good friends here convinced me to keep trying, to not give up.
Now I'm living a happy life. I am content with what I have and who I am. No amount of money can buy that feeling.
MLD, my dogs do that most every night. But my one dog is elderly so I always let him out, no matter what time it is.

May I extend a big weekender welcome to any newcomers. Hop on and enjoy the ride.
There is hope. If I can manage 1 year and 86 days without a drink, you definitely can. Working on staying sober everyday creates hope.
Best of luck to you,
B

I see we both joined back in 2012. 4 years on SR for me on 4/4. I have not missed but a few days if any since joining. That says something for either me or SR. I prefer to think SR.
Good to see you jump on the weekender! Hope you will stick around all weekend.

Thanks Ken.
Your intro stirred up memories of those
gruesome Monday morning death-hangovers.
Knowing full well that they were self-inflicted,
feeling like a failure, realizing another precious
weekend was reduced to yet another wasted period of time.
Monday still isn't my favorite day; yet there is no more loathing.
Count me in, have a great weekend everyone!

I'm in for the weekend. A special one this Saturday, as I'll have one year of sobriety on Saturday. Actually, I'll have it on Friday, but will receive the coveted blue chip from AA on Sat.
Thank you to all on SR.
With gratitude!!

I'm in and hope to get a bit more sleep but I doubt it. Hope is in short supply at this end. I needed to see that. Thanks Ken.
Worrying about money is causing me great distress and unfortunately my go to solution for stress still strays to drinking and not a better alternative. I don't want to blow two plus years so I need to figure something out soon.
If you're still struggling with quitting, you can absolutely do it. Then work to create change to stay stopped. Reach out.
Congratulations Cleomie. Well done!

Hopefully Mr. Ruby gets his butt in gear soon and gets a job. I know all about money worries. It sucks.
For any of you that have an AA big book, read the Promises. When I was newly sober and feeling hopeless, I read them over and over again until it sunk in that there is hope. I still read them often - my book falls open to that page. It gives me comfort, and I can see the promises slowly coming true.

Ugh. Awake for at least an hour and could not get back to sleep. Not good, as I have a major day at work ahead. Damn it.
Cleomie, a big congrats to you on your one-year anniversary. Milestones like that are so important.
(((Ruby))) Stay close.
It was calm overnight in my parts following a decision that no state charges will come out of a police shooting. No winners.

Congrats Cleomie - fantastic achievement!!! Well done.
Sorry that you are having the money worries Ruby. I am fully confident that you will not drink as I think you are an amazing person. We are more than our wealth and/or debts. These problems will pass. Stay close.
Ronnie Corbett, no way. RIP. Very funny, talented man.
