One year!

I made it! Amazing, it's really doable even after more than 30 years of drinking.
Many many thanks to all on SR who have been crucial to me making progress in my new sober life.
I would like to be able to say how fabulous my life is right now, but the truth is it's hard at the moment, I'm in a lot of flux and change and it's far from easy, but I'm doing my best with everything, sober.
Raw, scared, challenged, emotional................. sober.
Here's what I can say to those just starting out;
Never once in the last year have I thought that getting sober was the wrong thing to do.
Never once have I thought that having a drink would make anything better.
Never once have I wanted to return to the prison of addictive drinking and all the awful habits, shames and avoidances that went to support it.
Have a great sober day all of you and let's keep trying to string them together and work towards a better way to live.
Be well.
xx

That is great! I made it a year once and drank at day 366. I thought I had it under control. Wrong! I hope I can keep going this time. You are a role model! 👌

Congratulations! No one ever said sobriety is all rainbows and unicorns but it so much better than stumbling around in gray world of alcoholism filled with shame, fear and chaos

DG0409 03-29-2016 05:53 PM

Congratulations!

For what it's worth, I thought year 2 was a lot better than year 1. To be honest, I think year 2 just felt so good because year 1 was so hard. Year 3 has turned out pretty good and it's looking like year 4 might just be about the life of my dreams!!

I hope things start looking up for you soon.
