That's it, I give in!
Congratulations!!!!!! Such a great update. Rehab was what I needed too. I felt the same as you, desperate to get in as soon as possible. I am so happy it is working for you. Stay strong. Enjoy your little treat and then make the most of the last little bit. You can put your life back together, isn't that a great feeling?
Mera - it IS a great feeling, almost indescribable. Thank you so much for your rehab threads, I know that they're also going to be inspiring for other members here.
Although I've been trying to get sober for many years, this is my first inpatient experience. I've had some major 'AHA!' moments that I've never experienced before. For me it's not just about getting sober, but analyzing all aspects of my life. And the only way for me to do that was to be completely removed from it and have a bird's eye view.
I'm also mindful of the need to take things slooooooowly when I return home. It's so tempting to jump into things feet first, but then I'd end up right where I was before - overwhelmed and unable to cope.
I did treat myself this weekend though - trading my car in on another vehicle I've been lusting over for a long time.

Yep, I know exactly what you mean, just indescribable the feeling. And you said it perfectly, sometimes we need to be removed from the mess and have that 'bird's eye view' to really understand what we are doing and how to get ourselves out of it. I am so glad you had an experience like mine, I wound't hesitate to recommend inpatient rehab to anyone. It was SO scary to go, to leave behind kids and work and life but so so so worth it. We can finally live free of the slavery of alcohol, what a gift.
oh and ETA: nice job on the little (big!) treat for yourself.
also, do take it easy on yourself when you get out. remember you have been in a hospital like environment for nearly a month. I came out and went full on and ended up with pneumonia due to my weakened immune system. The gym, hard work around the house, jumping full on into work can all wait. Take it slow, you have done a major life change in just a month, it will take some time to get back to 100%.

It is great to hear you are doing so well. I am glad they were able to get you in a few days early, and that you have over a month sober. Enjoy your last week there, looking forward to hearing more from you when you are back home!
