I'm new here, hello everyone.
Hi.
I'm a young man in my mid-twenties. I've battled with a drinking problem with various levels of intensity for around 10 years now. I've managed to abstain for months at a time, but have always fallen back into drinking. I generally can keep my drinking a secret, but occasionally it spills over into the rest of my life with bad consequences.
After a near-miss on 11th March, I've hit what I hope is my rock bottom and am getting back into recovery. I've found a great AA group that feels right for me and I'm hoping to work the programme properly for the first time in my life.
Looking forward to learning something from the wealth of experience and knowledge that other alcoholics here have.

Thank you everyone. I've been shopping around for AA groups the past couple of days. I finally found one tonight which is right up my alley; full of intelligent, sharp people who mix humour and fun with discipline and commitment to the programme. No BS. For the first time, I feel excited about working the steps and having real sobriety.
Great to meet you, Naxos. I'm so glad you're doing this in your 20's. I continued on into middle age, insisting I could manage it. In the end, I was drinking every day, hopelessly caught in the trap. Plenty of destruction left in my wake.
17 days is something to be proud of. I'm glad you found an AA group that suit you - hope it goes well.

Really glad you joined us here ~ this is an amazing community.
And I think it's great that you have found a group and meeting that you like. It's a good feeling to be excited about sobriety huh?
